Halloween treats

Chocolate dipped marshmallows....my daughters loved these treats and there are so many other cute things you could do with them :)

Cupcake Wednesdays....Caramel Apple Cupcakes

Fall is probably my most favorite season of the year, but here in Florida it seems like Fall often times is only here for a short while.  It goes from being really hot, to not as hot, then gets pretty cold.  I wish we had time to appreciate the color changing of the leaves and the convenience of leaving our windows open, and this year it seemed like that was happening for about a week.  So, instead of waiting for that cool air to come, I decided to go ahead and start baking "fall" flavor cupcakes.  The first ones were Caramel Apple....an apple spice cupcake with caramel buttercream icing drizzled with melted caramel on top.  These cupcakes were AMAZING and made my house smell so good!  So for at least one day this month the "Fall" feeling was in the air :)

Cupcake toppers

For a long time now I have been seeing the cutest cupcake toppers online, so I made it a point to figure out how to make them.  I did find a website called www.picnik.com where you can create your own toppers, but the clipart is pretty limited.  While I was shopping in Michaels this weekend I also discovered that I could buy circle cut outs and stickers to make these.  So, that is what I did.  I bought some birthday stickers along with pink, green, blue and yellow card stock cutouts that match the birthday napkins and popsicle sticks and started crafting :) Here is what I came up with for the birthday girl....

I can't wait to add these to some delicious cupcakes this weekend....Happy Birthday Paige :)

These cupcakes were such a great combination of sweet and tart flavors, and I think I might have just found another one of my favorite icing flavors! They were YUMMY!!!!

Samoa Cupcakes

Although my favorite Girl Scout cookie is the Tagalong, Samoas were the inspiration for this week's cupcake.  The recipe I used came from http://www.cupcake-forum.com.  I changed it slightly and used semi-sweet chocolate chips for the chocolate ganache, but otherwise I followed it exactly.  These cupcakes took a long time to make, but they were well worth it.

Lightning McQueen Cake

I love to mold things out of rice krispie treats! For this cake I looked at pictures of Lightning McQueen online and then began.  It did take quite a bit of time, but was well worth it. The cake is three layers or vanilla and chocolate and frosted with vanilla buttercream.
